The story behind BRAP

Who's riding today?

BRAP started with exactly that question. We kept asking it in motorcycle chats, losing ride plans in the flood of messages, and missing rides altogether. At some point we decided there had to be a simpler way.

It started with two simple questions

At first, we wanted to solve just two problems: see who's riding where and who's planning to head out.

Chats aren't great for that. There are too many messages, even more groups, and a ride plan can easily disappear under a hundred other messages.

You've probably seen it happen: part of the group gets together, rides somewhere great, posts photos that evening — and someone immediately asks, “Why didn't you invite me?” The ride was mentioned. They just never saw the message.

That's how ride plans and events appeared in BRAP: open the app, see where people are heading, and join them.

What grew out of those problems

Ride plans and events

Ride plans get lost in chats. Some riders have already left while others are asking, “Why didn't anyone tell me?”

Live map

“Who's riding?” — a classic in any motorcycle chat. Why ask when you can just open the map?

Marketplace

Gear and parts are searched for in the same chats. Listings get buried just as easily as ride plans.

Garage

Service history lives in your head, your notes, or old messages with the repair shop.

Don't ask — open the map

Another motorcycle-chat classic: “Who's riding?” “Where are we meeting?” We thought: why ask at all?

If someone starts a ride and chooses to be visible, you can see them on the live rider map. Open the map, spot your friends nearby — and ride together.

That's how the map became the heart of BRAP.

Gear was a different story

In Kharkiv, there isn't a huge selection of motorcycle gear available offline. So we often searched for it ourselves in chats, on Instagram, OLX, and other platforms.

That's why we added the motorcycle marketplace — one place for the things riders want to sell or find.

When did I change the oil?

Maintenance has its own familiar question: “What was the mileage when I changed the oil?” Some people roughly remember, some keep notes, and others scroll through old messages with their service shop.

Today, the garage is where you keep your motorcycles and their service history. Over time, we want to turn it into a proper bike logbook: maintenance, mileage, reminders, and the motorcycle's complete history.

Then the ideas started coming naturally

We never had a list of a hundred features we absolutely had to build. We simply used BRAP ourselves. We'd go for a ride and notice what was missing. Friends suggested things. Riders messaged us. Whenever we ran into a problem, we tried to solve it.

That's how new features gradually appeared — and that's pretty much how BRAP still evolves today.

From Kharkiv

Across Ukraine

BRAP was born in Kharkiv. This is where we first used it ourselves, where the first riders joined, and where the first real-world tests happened. Today BRAP is gradually spreading across Ukraine. Next, we'd like to try the same idea in other countries. But Ukraine will always come first for us: this is where we ride, and we know the local motorcycle community and its problems firsthand.

We're not trying to build an Instagram for motorcycles. Or another navigation app or messenger. We want to build an app that's genuinely useful before, during, and after a ride.

BRAP is far from finished

We have far more ideas than time to build them :) So we're constantly adding things, reworking them, and testing them on real rides.

If something in BRAP annoys you, something is missing, or you simply have a good idea — message us. Plenty of features in the app already started with messages just like that.

Frequently asked questions

Who made BRAP?

Riders just like you :) BRAP started in Kharkiv with our own motorcycle chats, rides, and the constant question, “Who's riding today?” At first we built it for ourselves and our friends. Then riders from all over Ukraine started joining BRAP.

Where was BRAP created?

Kharkiv. That's where the idea was born, where the first riders joined, and where the first BRAP rides happened. Today, the app is used across Ukraine.

Why use BRAP if motorcycle chats already exist?

We use motorcycle chats ourselves :) But try finding yesterday's ride message in one of them. In BRAP, you can simply open the map, see who's riding, check upcoming plans, and join in.

How can I suggest an idea or report a problem?

Message us on Telegram @brap_app or Instagram brap.ua. We read the feedback and genuinely appreciate every idea.

Smooth roads to everyone. Take care of yourselves and each other.

Everything will be Ukraine! 🇺🇦
